Prasad Sweets

Our shop is in Vishrantwadi on the Commercial Street, specifically in Shop No 2 of Surbhi Apartment. It’s a good location because people can stop by easily while they are doing their other shopping. I usually get here while it is still dark to start setting things up. The smell of the sweets being prepared is very strong in the morning. We have these big metal trays that we fill up and put into the glass displays. It takes a lot of time to get everything looking decent. The apartment residents upstairs sometimes complain if we are too noisy with the shutters in the morning, so we try to be quiet. We have a lot of regular customers who come in for their daily fix or to buy a box for a friend. I spend a lot of time folding those little cardboard boxes and putting the paper liners inside. It's a repetitive task but it has to be done. The fans on the ceiling keep the air moving, which is nice when it gets stuffy inside. We don’t have much in the way of fancy lights, just the basic tubes on the ceiling. Every now and then, a stray dog sits near the door waiting for a scrap. We just keep our heads down and do the work. It's been like this for a long time now. I think we will be here for many more years just doing the same daily routine.
