Potli

Potli is based in the Wanowarie and Bhavani Peth areas. We operate out of these two spots, moving back and forth depending on what needs to be done. Bhavani Peth is always crowded and the streets are very narrow, so getting our goods in and out can be a real challenge sometimes. We handle a lot of traditional items and stuff stored in bags, which is where the name comes from. The storage spaces are packed from floor to ceiling with stock. We spend a lot of time counting items and making sure everything is where it should be. In Wanowarie, it is a bit more spread out, which gives us some room to breathe. We don't have a fancy showroom or anything like that. It’s more of a warehouse feel where the work actually happens. The air usually smells like jute bags and old wood. We use some old-fashioned scales to weigh things out when customers come by to pick up orders. Most of our day is spent talking to suppliers or loading things into the back of small vans. The two locations keep us moving all week long. We just try to keep the inventory organized and the paperwork updated on the small desk we have in the corner. It is a lot of heavy lifting and long hours, but we are used to it.
