Pavan Sweets

Pavan Sweets is situated in Dhanori at Shiv Sambhu Nagar, Lane No 1, right near the Katraj Kondwa Road. Our shop is always smelling like sugar and fried dough. We spend most of our mornings in the back stirring big pots of milk and sugar. It’s a lot of manual work to get the consistency of the barfi just right. We have rows of glass cases filled with different kinds of mithai. People come in mostly for the pedas and jalebis. During the festival season, the place gets absolutely packed and we are working until late at night. We have to fold hundreds of cardboard boxes to keep up with the demand. Our hands usually feel a bit sticky by the end of the day. Dhanori is a nice area with a lot of families, so we know many of our customers by name. They stop by for a quick snack or to buy a gift box for someone. The floor is tiled and we have to wash it constantly because sugar syrup seems to get everywhere. We don't have any fancy displays, just the trays of sweets. We focus on using good ingredients and keeping the taste consistent. It’s a hot and tiring job but it’s what we do. We just keep the milk boiling and the trays full for the next person.
