Pankaj Sweets is tucked away on Pandit Satwalekar Marg, Mogul Lane 1, in the Kothrud area. We’ve been making sweets here for a long time. The kitchen is always busy, and it smells like sugar and milk most of the day. It’s a small shop, and sometimes the counter gets a bit crowded when people are rushing to get something for a festival or a guest. We don’t have a big fancy sign or anything. Most people find us because they live nearby in Kothrud or they’ve been coming here since they were small. We spend a lot of our time in the back, making sure everything is prepared right. It’s hard work, especially when it’s hot outside and the stoves are going. We don’t really do any advertising. We just open the shutters in the morning and wait for the regulars to show up. Mogul Lane 1 is a narrow street, so it can get a bit jammed with cars and scooters. We know the other shopkeepers around here, and we often chat while we’re sweeping the front. The floor tile near the door is a bit loose, so we tell people to watch their step when it’s busy. It’s just a regular local business. We don’t try to be the biggest or the best, we just try to keep things going day by day. If you’re on Pandit Satwalekar Marg, you’ll probably see our small display. It’s where we spend our lives.
