New Narayan Khaman & Sweets

New Narayan Khaman & Sweets has been sitting on Warje Victoria Road for quite a bit now. Most mornings start pretty early here because the khaman needs to be ready before the first people head off to work. We spend a lot of time just hovering over the large steaming trays and making sure the sweets look right in the glass display case. It is a small place, honestly. You can usually find us behind the counter or out back cleaning up the mess from the morning prep. The road outside can get a bit loud with all the traffic heading through Warje, but inside it’s mostly just the sound of the fans and the fridge humming. We don’t really do anything fancy or have a big team of people running around. It’s just a few of us making sure there is enough food for whoever stops by. Some days are busier than others, especially when the weather is nice and people are out walking along Victoria Road. We usually have the trays stacked high by noon. Sometimes we run out of things earlier than we thought, which is just how it goes in a shop like this. We’ve gotten used to the faces of the regulars who live nearby and stop in for a quick bag of sweets on their way home. It isn't a complicated business, just a lot of standing and packing boxes.
