New India Sweet House

Down at 1214 Raviwar Peth, you’ll find New India Sweet House. We’ve been in this spot for a long time. The shelves are usually full of trays we’ve filled ourselves. It is a lot of work with sugar and flour, and we usually go home with it on our clothes. Raviwar Peth is a crowded area, so there is always someone walking by or looking in the window. We don't have a fancy website or a big sign. We just have the name above the door. Most of our customers have been coming here since they were kids. We see them grow up and then they bring their own kids. That’s the best part of being in an old neighborhood like this. We don't try to make things look like they came from a factory. If a sweet is a little lopsided, it just means it was made by hand. We use traditional methods because that’s what we learned. We don't have an office in the back. We do our paperwork on a small desk near the counter. It gets dusty and loud with the traffic outside, but we wouldn't want to be anywhere else. We just keep the cases full and the floor swept. It’s a simple life at 1214, but it’s ours. We’re just a local sweet shop doing things the old way. No bells or whistles, just sweets.
