Naiavedyam Restaurant

You can find us over at Mitra Mandal Chowk in Parvati. Pune is a busy city, but this area has its own rhythm. We are right there at the chowk, so it’s never really quiet outside. There is always the sound of rickshaws and people talking. I’ve been working in the kitchen and the front for a while now. We serve food that people in the neighborhood like to eat every day. It’s not the kind of place where you need to dress up or act fancy. Families come in, sitting at the big tables, and it gets pretty loud with kids and grandpas all talking at once. We spend our mornings chopping vegetables and getting the spices ready. The smell of the cooking starts to fill the place around eleven. I think that is the best part of the day. Sometimes we run out of certain dishes if the lunch rush is too big, but that’s just how it goes when you cook things fresh. We try to keep the tables clean and the water glasses full. It’s a lot of standing on your feet at Naiavedyam Restaurant, but seeing people finish their plates makes it feel alright. It is a simple business run by people who live right here.
