You can find us over on Sinhagad Road, right near Vikas Road in the Vithalrakhumai Housing Society. Being part of a housing colony means we see the same faces every single day. We start the day very early, usually when it’s still a bit dark outside, to get everything ready before the morning rush starts. The smell of the kitchen fills up the shop pretty quickly. We spend a lot of time hovering over the big stoves and making sure the counters are wiped down clean. It’s a simple shop with glass displays that we have to clean constantly because people are always leaning on them. Living and working around TAL Choryasi, you get to know the neighbors well. On rainy days, the floor gets a bit muddy from people coming in off the street, so we keep a mop handy behind the counter. We don't have any fancy decorations or big signs, just the name of the shop and the trays of what we made that morning. In the evenings, Sinhagad Road gets really jammed with traffic, and that’s usually our busiest time. People stop their scooters outside and run in to grab something before heading home to their families. It’s a lot of standing on our feet and packing things into boxes. We just try to keep things moving and make sure everyone gets what they need without waiting too long in the heat.
