Mithai Mall

Mithai Mall is located in Kothrud, specifically at Dagina Bazar 21/22. The name Mall might make it sound like a huge shopping center, but we are really just a big sweet shop in a busy market area. We’ve been at this spot in Dagina Bazar for quite some time. The neighborhood is always packed with people looking at jewelry, and they often stop in here when they need a break. We make all the traditional sweets right in the back. You can usually smell the cardamom and the frying sugar from down the street. It’s a lot of heavy lifting with the big milk vats and the sacks of sugar. My hands are almost always sticky from something. We have the counters lined with glass cases so people can see everything we’ve made that morning. It’s a lot of pressure during the festival season; we basically live in the shop during Diwali. The rest of the year is more manageable. I spend my afternoons counting out change and packing boxes with colorful ribbons. It’s a bit of an old-fashioned way to run a business, but it works for us. We don't do any delivery apps or anything; people just walk in, pick what they want, and chat for a minute before they head back out into Kothrud.
