Mayur Sweets is a small place located on Khondhwa Talab Mandir Road, occupying shops 2 and 3. We have been here for a good while, and the neighborhood has become very familiar to us. Every morning starts very early, usually before the sun is even up, because we have to get the kitchen going. The smell of frying and sugar fills the air on this street, which I think is quite nice. We are right near the Talab Mandir, so we get a lot of people coming in after they visit the temple. Our shop isn't very big, and the walls have a few marks on them from years of moving heavy trays around. We don't have any fancy displays; we just put the sweets out in the glass cases as they are made. It’s a family-run kind of thing, and everyone chips in where they can. During festival times, it gets very hectic and we hardly have time to sit down, but we don't mind the work. We like being part of the Khondhwa community. We don't bother with any marketing or slogans. We just focus on making the sweets the same way we always have. It’s a simple life, and being on Talab Mandir Road means we are always right in the middle of what’s happening in the local area. We just open up, greet the regulars, and keep the trays full throughout the entire day.
