Maurya Snacks Center

Being in the M I D C area here in Chinchwad East means things move fast. We open up Maurya Snacks Center pretty early because the factory shifts change and workers are looking for something hot to eat before they start. The H Block has a lot of people moving around. We spend most of our time at the stove, frying things up or making tea. The steam from the kettle usually fills the front of the shop by six. We aren't a big restaurant, just a place where you can grab a plate and stand by the counter. It’s loud because of the machines nearby, but we’re used to it. My hands are usually covered in flour or oil from making the batter. We try to keep things moving so people don’t get late for their jobs. Some of the regulars don't even have to say their order, I just see them coming and start the tea. It gets a bit messy when it rains, but everyone just huddles under the awning. We don't have fancy chairs or anything like that. People come for the food and a quick break. It’s hard work, standing all day, but seeing the same workers every morning makes it feel like we belong here. We just focus on keeping the pans hot and the tea strong enough to keep them going.
