Maratha Darbaar

I’ve been running this place at Survey No 239 in Parvati for a good while now. We’re right near the Nilayam Talkies Bridge, which everyone in Pune knows about. It’s a busy area and the noise from the bridge is something we’ve just gotten used to over the years. We open up the shutters pretty early to get the kitchen going. My nephew helps me with the supplies every morning. We don’t have any fancy decorations or soft lighting here. The tables are just plain wood and the chairs are simple too. It’s the kind of place where you can just sit down and eat without worrying about which fork to use. We spend a lot of time grinding the spices because that’s what makes the food taste right. Sometimes we run out of the main curry before the night is over, especially on weekends. It’s a bit frustrating for some people, but we only cook so much at a time to keep it fresh. The floor gets a bit dusty with all the people coming in from the main road, so we’re always sweeping up. We aren't a big corporation or anything. It's just a few of us working together to get the orders out. If you’re walking by Parvati Paytha, you’ll see our board. We don’t do much advertising. Most people find us because they live nearby or their friends told them about the food. That’s just how things work for us at Maratha Darbaar.
