Manthangal School is over on Senapati Bapat Road, specifically inside the Kala Chhaya Cultural Centre. It’s a busy part of Pune, but once you turn off the main SB Road, it gets a little quieter. There are a lot of trees around the property, which is nice when it’s hot outside. Since we’re at a cultural centre, there’s always something going on nearby, like someone practicing the tabla or a dance class in the next room. Our classrooms are tucked away in a corner of the building. We have some old wooden benches and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but they serve their purpose. The kids run around the open spaces during their lunch break, and it can get quite noisy. We don’t have a lot of modern gadgets, just the usual boards and books. The staff spends a lot of time just managing the daily flow of students and making sure everyone is where they should be. It’s a bit of an older style of school, not one of those new glass buildings. Sometimes the monkeys from the nearby hills come down and we have to make sure all the lunchboxes are put away properly. It’s just a normal, everyday place where we try to keep things running smoothly despite the occasional chaos. We’ve been here for a while and the routine is pretty set. It's a unique spot on Senapati Bapat Road, that's for sure.
