If you are driving through Lonavala and pass Swastik Cross Road, you’ll probably see Mamta Sweets. Lonavala gets a lot of tourists on the weekends, but we mostly see the local people who live here year-round. The air is a bit cooler here than in the city, but the kitchen still gets plenty warm. We make a lot of different things, but we try not to overcomplicate it. We have some wooden benches outside where people like to sit when the weather is nice. The shop is a bit old-fashioned, with some old posters on the walls and a counter that has seen better days. We don't have a computerized billing system; we just write everything down in a notebook. It works for us, so we haven't felt the need to change it. Sometimes the fog gets so thick in the mornings that we can barely see the road from our front door. My grandfather was the one who first got the idea to open a shop here, and not much has changed since his time. We still use the same heavy pots and the same recipes he wrote down. We don't really have a grand plan for the future. We just want to keep the shop running and make sure we don't run out of ingredients before the weekend rush starts. It’s a simple life, and we are quite used to it by now.
