Mamta Sweet Home

Mamta Sweet Home is located in Lonavala at Ganga Queensgate. Being in a place like Lonavala means we see a lot of people who are on vacation or just out for a drive from the city. We make all kinds of sweets, mostly things that can travel well in a box. The air inside the shop always smells like sugar and ghee, which is a nice thing to wake up to every morning. We have glass cases where we display the barfis and laddoos, and we spend a lot of time wiping the fingerprints off the glass. It is a busy life, especially on the weekends when the tourists arrive in large groups. We have to make sure we have enough stock or we lose out on business. My father started making sweets a long time ago and he taught us how to get the consistency right. We don't use machines for everything, a lot of it is still stirred by hand in big pots. The address at Ganga Queensgate is easy for people to find when they are walking around. We don't have any big mission or anything, we just want to make sure the sweets are fresh and that the boxes are tied up tight so they don't open in someone's car. It is a simple trade and we are happy to be part of the community.
