We've been at Chintamani Villa for a while now. Most people know us because they pass the PashanBaner Link Road every day. It's busy out there in the main bazar. We start early. The milk arrives, and the kitchen gets hot pretty fast. It’s a lot of manual work, stirring the big pots and cutting things into squares. Sometimes the floor gets a bit sticky, but that’s just how it is when you’re working with sugar all day. We don't have fancy displays. Just glass cases filled with whatever we made that morning. People stop by after work or when they’re heading to a party. They usually want a box of something fresh. We don't really change the recipes much. My father did it this way, and we just kept going. It’s a small space, so when it gets crowded, people have to wait on the sidewalk. Nobody seems to mind though. They just talk to each other while we pack the boxes. We handle a lot of cash and try to keep things moving. The fan in the corner makes a lot of noise, but it helps with the heat from the stoves. It's just a regular shop. We sell sweets, we talk to the neighbors, and then we close up and go home. Nothing too complicated about it. We’ve had the same neighbors for years and it feels like a little community. Sometimes the traffic outside gets stuck, and we just watch the cars from the doorway.
