Kolhale Sweet Mart

We are Kolhale Sweet Mart, and our shop is at Shukrawar Peth 3rd Cross, Bilekalli 135. We make different kinds of sweets every day starting very early. The smell of sugar and milk is always in the air here, which you get used to after a while. We have glass cases where we put the trays out so people can see what we have made that morning. It gets very crowded during festival times, and we usually have to work late into the night to keep up with the orders people place. Most of the work is done by hand, from mixing the dough to shaping the sweets into little rounds. We don't have big machines to do it. Our hands are usually covered in flour or syrup by midday. The shop isn't very big, so if there are more than five customers, it feels quite full and cramped. We have a small back room where we store the ingredients like big sacks of sugar and tins of ghee. Sometimes we run out of things early if a big group comes in and buys everything. We’ve been at this Bilekalli address for a while and the neighbors all know us by name now. We don't do any advertising, people just find us by walking by or hearing from someone else in the peth. It’s a lot of sticky work, but it’s what we know how to do. We just keep the trays full and wait for the next person to walk in and buy something.
