Khodiar Sweets

The shop is called Khodiar Sweets and we are situated on R C Dutt Road in the Alkapuri area. This part of Vadodara is quite busy and Hadapsar is also a place we are connected with in our records. Being on R C Dutt Road means there is never a quiet moment. The cars and bikes are always zooming past the front door. We have a decent sized space here in Alkapuri Vadodara 49 and we try to use every inch of it. The display cases are full of the different varieties we make each morning. I usually arrive before the sun is up to start the first batch of frying. It is peaceful then before the rest of the city wakes up. By noon the shop is usually full of people grabbing something on their lunch break. We have a couple of staff members who have been with us for a long time. They know exactly how much sugar goes into every recipe without even measuring anymore. Sometimes we have issues with the electricity but we manage with the backup. The floor is made of stone and it stays relatively cool which is nice during the heat. We don't do much advertising because people just know we are here on the road. It is just a steady business and we take it one day at a time.
