Kailas Sweets

Kailas Sweets is over in Dhanori, right on the road near Bhairav Nagar at Sr No 52. If you know the area, you know that Dhanori Road can get quite packed with people and scooters in the evenings. We open up pretty early to get the first batches of sweets and snacks ready for the day. There is always steam coming from the back where the big vats are. We make all the usual stuff people look for, like laddoos and barfis, and we also have savory snacks. It isn’t a fancy air-conditioned showroom. It is just a local sweet shop with glass counters and some stools if someone wants to sit for a minute. The floor can get a bit sticky by midday even though we try to clean it often. We get a lot of people stopping by on their way home from work to pick up something for their families. During festivals, it gets absolutely chaotic here and we barely have time to breathe, let alone talk. We have a few guys in the back who have been making these recipes the same way for years. We don’t change things much because people like what they know. Sometimes the sugar prices go up and we have to adjust, but we try to keep things fair. It is a busy, sweet-smelling life here in Dhanori and we are happy to be part of the neighborhood.
