Janta Sweets

Janta Sweets is over in Vadgaon. It is a small place that has been around for a long time. Vadgaon still feels a bit like a village in some parts, and our shop is right in the middle of that. We don't have any of the modern stuff you see in the city shops. The counters are old and the glass has a few scratches on it from years of use. We make the sweets using the old methods, mostly just milk and sugar and some nuts. Every morning we light the stove and start the boiling. It takes a long time to get the consistency right. The neighbors all know us and they stop by just to say hello even if they are not buying anything. We have some wooden benches where people can sit if they are tired. The road outside is not as busy as the main highways but we still get a good amount of people walking by. We keep the sweets in big metal trays. Sometimes the flies are a problem so we have to keep everything covered up tight. We don't have a computer or anything, just a small notebook to keep track of things. It is a very simple way of doing business. We open when the sun is up and we close when it gets dark. That is just how Janta Sweets has always been for as long as anyone here can remember.
