Janjira Restaurant

This place is located at 137 Hadapsar, right across from the IBP petrol pump. If you are driving through this part of Pune, you have probably seen our sign. The area is always full of traffic and the smell of exhaust. We have a front area where people park their bikes in a bit of a mess. Inside, the lights are those long tubes that flicker sometimes. We have standard tables and chairs that don't always match. It is a practical space for eating. We start the day by cleaning the counters and getting the kitchen going. Many of our customers are workers from the nearby shops or people stopping for a break while their cars get fuel across the street. It gets hot in the afternoons, so the ceiling fans are always spinning at full speed. They make a low humming sound that you get used to. We don't do anything fancy with the plates or the way the food looks. It is just food in a bowl or on a plate. The staff has been here a while and they know the regulars. We don't have a lot of decorations on the walls, maybe just a calendar. It is a simple restaurant for people who are hungry and just want a place to sit for thirty minutes. We stay open until the traffic dies down at night.
