Jain Traders

If you know the Deccan Gymkhana area, you know how crowded it gets, especially on the Double Road. That is where we are, at Jain Traders. Our specific spot is on Nanjappa Road, house number 39/24/B. It’s an old part of the city and the building has been around for ages. Working on a double road means there is never a quiet moment; you have buses and cars honking right outside the door from eight in the morning until late at night. We have a lot of stock crammed into the shop, and sometimes it feels like we are tripping over boxes just to get to the back. We don't really do anything fancy with the display or the lighting. People come in because they know we are here and we usually have what they are looking for. We spend a lot of time just counting items and making sure the ledgers are right. The heat in the summer can be a bit much because the shop faces the sun, but we just keep the fans running and carry on. It’s a lot of physical work, lifting things and moving crates around. We've known the people on this street for years, and it feels more like a community than just a place of business. We just do our thing and try to stay organized.
