Hira Sweets

We are located over at Warje Survey No 139, right along the Nda Road. Hira Sweets has been here for a while, and the routine hasn't changed much over the years. Every morning we start by checking the stock and seeing what needs to be made fresh for the day. The kitchen in the back is where most of the work happens, with big containers of milk and sugar being turned into sweets. It can get quite hot back there, especially during the festival season when we are working late into the night. We have a couple of large glass displays out front where we put the fresh stuff so people can see it from the street. The Nda Road is always busy with traffic, so we get a lot of people stopping their scooters for a quick bite or to take a box home. We don't have any fancy uniforms, just plain clothes and a lot of aprons that get stained with saffron. Sometimes we run out of the popular items by the afternoon, and we have to tell people to come back tomorrow. It’s a local kind of place where people stand around and talk while they eat. We spend a lot of time cleaning the counters and making sure the floor is swept. It’s honest work, and we like seeing the same faces coming back week after week. When we close up at night, we’re usually pretty tired but satisfied with the day’s work.
