Hariyana Sweets Home is located at 19 Chinchwad Wakad Road. We’ve been making sweets here for a number of years now. It’s a small shop, but it gets very busy during festival times when everyone wants something for their home. We spend a lot of our day in the back, working with large pots of milk and sugar. There’s always a faint smell of cardamom and fried dough in the air. We don’t use any machines to make our sweets; most of it is done by hand, the old way we learned. It’s a lot of physical work, especially when the weather is hot in the summer. We sell the usual stuff like laddoos and barfis, and we also have some savory snacks for people who don't want something sweet. The shop window is usually full of trays, and we try to keep things looking decent for the customers. We don’t have a marketing strategy. People know we are here because they’ve been coming to us since they were children. The counter is usually crowded in the evenings after work hours. We don't have any fancy packaging, just simple boxes and paper bags. Sometimes we run out of the popular items by midday, and we just have to tell people to come back tomorrow. It’s not a perfect system, but it’s how we’ve always done it. We just want to make sure the sweets taste like they should. It’s a family-run kind of thing, and we just keep going.
