We opened Hari Om Sweets on Wagholi Vastral Cross Road quite a few years back now. It’s a busy spot and we see a lot of the same faces every morning when they come by for their snacks or some sugar for the house. The shop isn't anything fancy to look at, just a counter and some shelves, but we keep it clean. Usually, the kitchen starts going early because everything takes time to get right. We don’t use machines for everything, mostly doing it by hand like how it was done before. Some days it gets really hot in here, especially in the summer months, but that is just part of the job. People ask why we stay in this specific corner of Wagholi, and really, it’s just where we started and where everyone knows to find us. My nephew helps out behind the glass when he isn't at school. We have a routine now. Mondays are always slow until the evening hits and then everyone wants something for tea. Sometimes we run out of the popular items before noon, which makes some regulars a bit annoyed, but we can only make so much at once. It’s a small life but it keeps us busy enough. The traffic outside is always loud. You get used to the noise of the bikes and the dust from the road after a while. We just keep the doors open and wait for whoever comes in.
