Geeta Snacks

We are based over in Nigdi, right in the Pooja Park Society area near Bharati Nagar. The shop is on Paud Road at Plot No 397, Se-24. It’s a residential neighborhood, so we see a lot of families and people who live just a few houses away. I started this because I liked making things for people to eat. The kitchen is right at the back and it’s where I spend most of my time. We make everything in small batches so it doesn't sit around for too long. When the oil is hot and the first batch goes in, the whole street can smell it. Sometimes my neighbors come over just to tell me it smells good today. It’s not a big operation, just me and one other person helping with the serving and the cleaning. We have a few plastic stools for people to sit on, but most folks just take their food home in a packet. Rainy days are the busiest because everyone wants something hot and fried when it’s pouring outside. I’ve lived in Nigdi for years, so I know most of the kids who come in after school. We don't have a printed menu, just what we’ve made for the day written on a small chalkboard. It’s simple and it works for us. We close up once the containers are empty, usually around the time the sun goes down. It's nice to see the same faces every day and know that people enjoy what we do here.
