We are on the ground floor in Sadashiv Peth. It’s a busy part of town and we are right in the middle of it. The kitchen area is where we spend most of our time, frying up the different snacks we sell. The smell of oil and spices is everywhere. We have a counter facing the street where people just stop their scooters and ask for a packet of something. It gets very hot near the stoves, so we usually have a big fan pointed at us. The floor is a bit stained from the cooking, but we scrub it down every night. We don't have much of a seating area, it's more of a quick stop for people on their way somewhere else. Sadashiv Peth has a lot of old buildings and narrow lanes, so it feels very traditional around here. We start early in the morning to get the first batches ready for the breakfast crowd. The glass jars on the shelves are filled with all kinds of crunchy snacks that we bag up as people ask for them. Sometimes the rain makes things a bit quiet, but usually, there's a constant stream of regulars. We don't use any big machines, mostly just our hands and some large pans. It’s a simple life of making food and talking to the neighbors who come by every day for their snacks before they head home.
