Fame Cinemas

We operate out in Akurdi, showing movies throughout the week. It’s a standard cinema setup where we sell tickets and keep the projectors running. Most of the time, we are busy cleaning up popcorn from the aisles or making sure the sound is working right in every hall. It’s a lot of standing around and then sudden bursts of activity when a show ends. We don't have a thousand screens like the big chains. We’re just the place in Akurdi where people go to see a film on the weekend. The seats are comfortable enough, and we try to keep the air conditioning at a decent level. Sometimes the technology acts up and we have to scramble to fix a screen, which is never fun, but it happens. We have a small staff who mostly live nearby. We don't have any grand statements to make about movies. For us, it’s about making sure the lights go down at the right time and the movie plays until the credits. We spend a lot of time swept up in the schedule of showtimes. The lobby gets loud when the big blockbusters are out, and it’s quiet on Tuesday mornings. We just keep the place running so there’s somewhere for the locals to go for a couple of hours. It’s a straightforward job, and we’ve been doing it this way for a while now without much fuss. We just hope the film stays in focus and the sound doesn't cut out.
