Alankar Theatre

Alankar Theatre is an old landmark around Pune Station. We are specifically at 8th Cross, 5th Main Road 16. The building has been here through many changes in the city. It’s not like those new multiplexes with fancy carpets and expensive popcorn. Our place is more traditional. You can feel the history in the walls. We have the big screen and the rows of seats, and we show the movies that people want to see. Being near the station means we get a lot of travelers who have a few hours to kill before their train leaves. It also means the area is always loud and crowded. Managing a theatre is a lot of work that people don't see. There’s the ticket counter, the projector room, and the cleaning that has to happen between every show. We try to keep things running on time. The building at number 16 has its quirks, like any old place. Sometimes the fans are a bit noisy, or the seats show their age, but it’s part of the character. We don't spend money on big glossy brochures. The posters outside tell you what’s playing, and that’s usually enough. It’s a place for everyone to come and sit for a couple of hours and forget about the world outside. We take pride in just keeping the doors open and the movies running for the people of Pune.
