Dhanlakshmi Sweets

We are located over in Dhanakawadi, right in the Pragatinagar area. Most of the people who come in live just a few streets away. It’s a small shop, and sometimes the lighting isn't the best, but we keep the kitchen busy. My brother and I usually handle the counter while the workers stay in the back. We make a lot of traditional stuff that people like for festivals or just for a regular Tuesday. We don't use any big machines, just large pots and a lot of stirring by hand. The shelves are a bit old, but they hold the jars just fine. Sometimes we forget to turn the sign on, but people know we are open anyway. The street outside can get pretty dusty during the dry season. We try to keep the glass doors shut, but customers are always coming and going. We don't have a big menu printed out. We just tell you what we made fresh that morning. If something is sold out, then it’s gone until the next day. We don't do delivery or anything complicated. You just come in, pick what you want, and we wrap it up in paper. It’s been this way for a long time. Pragatinagar is a quiet place mostly, so we get to know everyone. It's just a normal business run by normal people. We don't have a big sign out front, just the name on the glass.
