Chetanya Pustakalaya

You can find Chetanya Pustakalaya over in Dhanakawadi. We are in Shop No 2 of the Shankar Complex. It is a pretty easy place to find because we are right opposite the Premanand Society. The shop is filled from floor to ceiling with books and notebooks and all sorts of stationery. It is a bit cramped, to be honest, but that is how a real bookstore should be. I spend a lot of my time dusting the shelves and trying to organize the new arrivals that come in every week. Dhanakawadi is a busy residential area, so we get a lot of students and parents coming in before school or during the exam season. The Shankar Complex has a few other shops, so there is always some activity happening nearby. Across the street at Premanand Society, you see people coming and going all day long. I don't have a computer system to track everything; I mostly just know where things are by memory. It is a quiet kind of work, though the street outside can get quite noisy with the traffic and horns. I have been running this shop for a long time, and I know most of the people who walk through the door. It is a nice feeling to be the local bookstore where people come for their pens and paper. We don't do any big advertising. We just open the doors and let the neighborhood come in.
