Working in the Sangavi Industrial Area Phase 2 is different from having a shop in a residential neighborhood. We are at number 1, right where the workers pass by on their way to the factories. It’s a bit gritty here with all the trucks and dust from the construction. Chandan Sweets has been here through all the phases of development. We mostly sell things that people can eat quickly on their break. The mornings are the craziest because everyone wants something before they start their shift. I’m usually sweating by 8 AM from the heat of the fryers. We make a lot of savory stuff too, not just sweets, because the guys working in the plants need something filling. The floor is concrete and we have these big metal racks for the trays. It’s not a place for sitting down and relaxing; it’s more of a grab-and-go kind of spot. I’ve lived in Sangavi my whole life, so I know the shortcuts and the people around here. My wife helps me with the books in the evening when the shop is closed. We don't have fancy lights or big posters. It’s just a plain shop with good food. The noise from the industrial area is always there in the background, but you get used to it after a while. We just keep the stove going and try to keep up with the demand from the workers.
