Chamunda Sweet

Chamunda Sweet is located right near the Sher N Punjab Society on Mahakali Caves Road 18. It is a bit of a walk from the main gate, but people living in Katraj seem to find us okay. We’ve been at this spot for a while now. The shop is small and the floor is a bit uneven in the back, but it works for what we need. Every morning is the same, opening the shutters and getting the milk delivered. It’s a lot of manual work. My hands are usually covered in flour or syrup by ten in the morning. We don’t have a big team, just a couple of us doing everything from cleaning to cooking. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to use the lanterns, which makes it hard to see the labels. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just walk in because they live nearby or they're passing through to the caves. The neighborhood has changed a lot since we first arrived, more buildings now and more cars parked everywhere. It makes deliveries a bit of a headache. We just try to keep the trays full and the floor swept. It’s hard work, especially on your feet all day, but it is what we know. Often we sit outside on the plastic stools when there’s a quiet moment between the lunch and dinner rush.
