Bikaner Sweet & Namkeen

In the middle of all the glass buildings in Hinjawadi, you’ll find our shop. It’s a bit of a contrast, honestly. Outside there are all these IT professionals with their laptops, and inside we have trays of traditional sweets and bags of salty namkeen. We stay busy because everyone needs a snack during their tea break. We make everything in the back, and the smell of ghee and sugar usually drifts out onto the street. Some days are crazy, especially before a big holiday when everyone wants to take boxes of sweets home to their families. We have to work extra hours then, staying up late to finish the orders. The floor can get a bit slippery with all the cooking going on, so we have to be careful. We have a few benches where people can sit and eat their samosas, but most people are in a hurry to get back to their offices. We see a lot of young people who moved here from different parts of the country for work. They often tell us our food reminds them of home, which is nice to hear. We don't use any fancy packaging unless someone asks for it. It’s just good, fresh food that we make every day. Hinjawadi is always growing and changing, but we try to keep our flavors the same as they’ve always been.
