About Bikaner Sweet & Farsan Mart – Food & Beverages in Pune
We have two spots, one in Wagholi and the other over on Fergusson College Road. Both stay pretty busy throughout the day. In the mornings, we are mostly focused on getting the farsan ready. You can hear the sound of the frying and smell the oil from down the street. We stack the shelves with packets of snacks and fill the glass cases with different sweets. It gets very crowded on FC Road because of all the students and people shopping nearby. The Wagholi shop has its own set of regulars who come in every morning for their snacks. We don't have fancy uniforms or a big marketing team. It’s just us in our aprons, weighing out the items and packing them into boxes. The floors are constantly being swept because people bring in dirt from the street. It’s a lot of manual work, moving heavy trays and standing for hours. We try to keep the glass clean so you can see what is available. Sometimes the line gets long and people have to wait, but we move as fast as we can. We don't use any fancy machines, just the same traditional ways of making things. The recipes are just what we have always used for years. It’s a lot of heat in the kitchen area, but we are used to it by now. We just want to get through the day's stock and make sure the shelves are not empty.
