Bhojwani Sweets

If you walk around Dapodi long enough, you will eventually run into Bhojwani Sweets. We have been here in this same spot for quite a while now. The mornings are usually the busiest time because that is when we are getting all the milk and sugar sorted out. It gets really humid in the back room where the big stoves are. We use these massive iron pans that take two people to move when they are full. My hands are usually a bit sticky by ten in the morning from handling all the syrups. We have rows and rows of glass counters that we have to keep wiping down because of all the fingerprints from people pointing at what they want. It is a small shop, so when four or five people come in at once, it feels very crowded. We stack the cardboard boxes up to the ceiling in the corner to save space. Sometimes the delivery guys for the raw materials arrive at the same time as the customers, and it is a bit of a scramble to get everything through the door. We do not have fancy uniforms or anything, just our regular clothes and aprons. It is hard work, especially when the weather is hot, but the routine stays the same every day. We just make the sweets, box them up, and try to keep the place looking halfway decent. It is just how things work here in Dapodi, and we would not know what else to do.
