Bhavani Sweet

Bhavani Sweet is right here in Thergaon, part of the Jayjagat Society neighborhood. It’s a quiet residential area for the most part, so we mostly see the people who live in the apartments around us. We are a small shop, and we like it that way. Most of our time is spent in the back, working with sugar and flour. Making sweets is a slow process if you want to do it right. We don’t use any big machines, just our hands and a few stoves. The shop has a front counter where we display what we’ve made for the day. Sometimes the neighbors come in just to chat for a bit. It’s that kind of place. We don’t have a big sign or anything flashy. People just know we are here. In Thergaon, things move a bit slower than in the city center. We open up in the morning and stay until the trays are mostly empty. It’s not always easy work, especially when it’s hot outside and we have the stoves going. But we’ve been here at Jayjagat Society for a while now and we are used to it. We don’t try to be anything we aren't. We just make sweets and keep the shop clean. If you walk by, you can usually smell whatever we are cooking that day. It’s just a simple life running a local shop for our neighbors. We close up when the sun goes down and get ready for the next morning.
