Bhavanagari Sweet

Down at Rasta Peth 46/47, you will find Bhavanagari Sweet. Rasta Peth is one of those busy, narrow parts of the city where there is always something happening. Our shop is right in the middle of it. We make our sweets in the back and sell them out front. It’s a basic setup that hasn't changed much over the years. We start early in the morning, heating up the large vats and getting the ingredients ready. The smell of frying and sugar often fills the street. It’s hard work, especially in the summer when the kitchen gets very hot. We have a few regular workers who have been with us for a long time. We aren't a big chain. We just have this one spot at 46/47. People come here for their daily snacks or for boxes of sweets during the festival times. It gets very chaotic during Diwali or Ganpati, but we just keep our heads down and do the work. The shop isn't decorated with anything fancy. We have the trays laid out so people can see what we have made that day. We don't use any complicated words to describe what we do. It’s just making food and selling it to the people in the neighborhood. We’ve seen the kids who used to come in with their parents grow up and start bringing their own children here. It’s a nice feeling to be a part of the local history.
