Bengali Sweets & Foods

We’ve been running Bengali Sweets & Foods for a while now over here at Viman Nagar 6. It’s not a huge place, just a simple shop where we make what we know. Most mornings start pretty early because the milk delivery comes in before the sun is even up. We spend a lot of time just standing over the big pots, stirring and making sure the syrup is right. It gets hot in the back, especially during the summer months, but that is just how it goes. Some people come in looking for specific stuff they remember from back home, and we do what we can to match that taste. We aren't trying to be fancy or anything. The shelves are usually full by noon, and by evening, we are mostly just cleaning up and getting ready for the next day. It’s a lot of work, honestly. My nephew helps out with the counter when he isn't busy with his classes. We have a few regulars who stop by every single day just for a small piece of whatever is fresh. Sometimes we run out of things faster than we expected, and people get a bit annoyed, but we just tell them to come back tomorrow. It’s a neighborhood spot, really. We know most of the people who walk through the door. The floor needs a bit of a scrub today, and the sign outside is slightly crooked, but the food is what matters to us.
