Bansal Sweets is right in the middle of the action at Bibwewadi A Block N K P Market 90. The mornings start really early here because the milk arrives before the sun is even up and we have to get the stoves going. It gets very hot in the back kitchen with all the large vats of sugar syrup bubbling away. You can usually smell the cardamom and fried dough from down the block which brings people in. The glass display cases are always being wiped down because fingerprints get all over them from people pointing at what they want. In the afternoons when the market gets busy it can get a bit hectic with everyone trying to get their snacks at the same time. We have stacks of cardboard boxes in the back that we fold during the slow hours while we listen to the radio. The floor is tile and it gets a bit slippery if we aren't careful with the washing. We don’t have much room for sitting so most people just take their bags and head back out into the market. It’s a basic shop and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint but we are too busy to get to it right now. We just focus on making the sweets every day and keeping the trays full for the neighborhood folks who stop by on their way home.
