B T Shahani Navin Hind English Medium School

We’ve been here at 774, 42, Bhawani Peth for quite a long time now. If you walk through this part of Pune, you’ve probably passed our gate many times without thinking much about it. It is just a normal school building where kids from the neighborhood come every morning to sit in their classrooms and learn their lessons in English. The halls can get pretty loud during the breaks, but that’s just how it is when you have so many students in one place. We don’t have fancy stuff, just desks, boards, and teachers who have been working here for years. Sometimes the traffic outside on the street gets a bit much, especially when parents are dropping their children off or picking them up in the afternoon. Inside, it’s mostly just the sound of chalk on the board and kids talking. We try to keep things organized, though it gets a bit messy when it rains or during the big festival seasons in the city. Most of the people around here know us because their kids or their neighbors’ kids go here. It’s a busy place with a lot of history in these walls. We aren't trying to be anything other than a local school for the families living around Bhawani Peth. The rooms are plain, the playground is small, but it works for what we do every day. Everyone just shows up, does their work, and goes home when the bell rings at the end of the day.
