B Purohit Sweets & Farsan

If you walk through Shaniwar Peth Koramangala 7, you will find B Purohit Sweets & Farsan right there. We spend a lot of our time over the big frying vats because the farsan needs to be crunchy and right. It gets noisy with the oil bubbling and the sounds of the street outside coming through the open door. We make a lot of different salty snacks and sweets, and the shelves are usually piled high with bags of sev and gathiya. I have been working here for years and my hands are used to the heat now. It is a busy spot, especially in the late afternoon when people are heading home from work and want something to eat with their tea. We don’t use any fancy machines, mostly just our hands and some old tools that have been in the shop forever. The floor usually has a bit of flour on it by midday, no matter how much we sweep. It is just the way a real snack shop looks when things are being made fresh. We aren't trying to be a big chain or anything, just a local spot in Shaniwar Peth where you can grab a packet of something savory. The work is hard and the hours are long, but we just keep at it day after day. We hope the flavors stay the same as they always have been. We just keep our heads down and cook.
