Sadashiv Peth has a very particular feel to it, and Girijashankar Appartment is right in the thick of it. Our place, 31 1114, is tucked away in this building. Arati Rahul Joshi Sane has been part of this community for years. The apartment itself has those thick walls that keep the noise of the street at bay, though you can still hear the temple bells in the distance. It is a lived-in space. There are stacks of books on the side tables and a few potted plants on the balcony that struggle a bit in the heat. We don't have a big sign outside or a fancy office setup. It is more of a personal work area where things get done at their own pace. The kitchen is small, but it is where the best tea is made. We often spend our afternoons there when the sun is too bright in the front room. The neighbors are mostly families who have lived here for generations. We exchange greetings in the hallway and talk about the local news. It is a very traditional part of town, and we fit right in with the older buildings and narrow lanes. There is a sense of history in these streets that you don't find in the newer developments. We just go about our daily tasks, keeping things quiet and steady. It is a good life here in Sadashiv Peth.
