Anand Vasant Gharpure

I’ve been based here at 1497 Sadashiv Peth for quite a long time. My place is right on the 1st Main, at the 3rd Cross, which is a very familiar part of the neighborhood for those who live around here. Sadashiv Peth has a certain rhythm to it that doesn't really change much over the years. My office is a small room with a lot of wooden shelves and books that have been there for ages. It’s a quiet spot, away from the heaviest traffic, though you can still hear the scooters passing by outside. I don't have a fancy website or a bunch of people working for me. It is just me and my desk. Most of my day is spent reading through papers or meeting with people who have lived in this area their whole lives. We sit and talk about whatever business they have, and I try to help out where I can. The building is older, so the stairs are a bit narrow and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but it feels like home to me. I like the fact that I can walk to most places I need to go from here. It’s a very grounded way of living and working. I don't see a reason to move to a modern office building when everything I need is right here in this corner of the Peth. It’s simple and it works for the kind of life I lead.
