Anant Sweet is on Pimpri Street No- 4. It’s right in the middle of a very busy market area. There is always someone shouting or a cart being pushed past the door. We have a large open front so people can see what we have ready for the day. Most of the work happens in the back kitchen where we have the big iron pots. It gets very hot back there, especially in the summer months. We make the sweets fresh every morning. You can smell the sugar syrup boiling from down the block. We have some metal trays lined up on the counter. We don't have fancy labels, we just know what everything is by the shape and color. The floor is made of old tiles that are a bit cracked in the corners. We’ve been meaning to fix them but we never seem to find the time. My uncle started this shop a long time ago and we just kept it going. We have a few stools for people to sit on, but most people just buy what they want and keep walking. It’s a noisy, busy place but we like being part of the street. In the evenings, we wash all the trays and get the milk ready for the next day. It’s a lot of lifting and cleaning but that’s just how it is. People come and go and the street never really stays silent.
