Ambika Sweets is situated in the B Wing area of Sangavi. It’s a bit of a walk from the main road, tucked in near the residential buildings. I start my day by checking the cooling units to make sure they are running right. Being in Sangavi B Wing means we get a lot of families coming in. I see the same parents and children every single day. The shop is small and the ceiling is a bit low, which makes it feel cozy when it’s raining outside. I have a routine of cleaning the glass shelves every couple of hours because they get dusty so fast. I don't really have a big staff, just me and one other person who helps with the heavy lifting and cleaning. We have different sweets lined up in rows, and I try to keep them looking neat, though they often get messed up when we're busy during the holidays. I spend my lunch break sitting on a crate in the back room, just listening to the sounds of the neighborhood. There’s always someone calling out or a scooter zooming by. Ambika Sweets is a simple operation. We don't have a big sign or anything to draw people in from far away. Most of our customers just live in the nearby wings and know us by name. It’s a predictable way to spend the day, and I like the familiarity of it. When it’s time to close up at night, I just tidy up the last few things and lock the gate securely for the night.
