Tanto Pizzeria

Tanto Pizzeria is located on the Auroville Main Road in Kuyilapalayam. We are right near the SBI bank, which makes us pretty easy to spot if you are driving through. Pondicherry 605001 has a very specific feel, and being on the road to Auroville means we see a lot of different people every day. We aren't a fancy Italian place with white tablecloths. We are a bit more rugged than that. Our focus is mostly on the oven and getting things done. The atmosphere here is quite relaxed, much like the rest of the neighborhood. We have a mix of locals and travelers who stop by. We spend a lot of time managing the wood for the fire and keeping up with the orders. It’s a busy life but we enjoy being outdoors near the main road. The heat from the oven can be a lot sometimes, but that’s just the job. We don't use any corporate scripts or have a big management team. It’s just us and the staff working together. We’ve been here in Kuyilapalayam for a while and have become a bit of a fixture. People know they can find us by the bank. We just keep things simple and try to stay consistent. It’s just a local pizza place on a busy road. We like the way the evening looks when the lights come on and the air cools down.
