Asoka Foods

Asoka Foods is located at 70 Mission Street. It is an old part of town with a lot of history in the buildings. Our own building has been here for a long time, and you can see it in the architecture. It is not a modern factory; it is more of a traditional setup for us. We handle a lot of different food items throughout the week. You can smell the spices and grains the very moment you walk through the front door. It is a scent that stays on your clothes long after you leave. We have heavy wooden doors and floors that creak a bit when you walk across them. Most of our work is done by hand. We weigh things out and pack them up into bags. It is a slow process, but we do not like to rush things too much. Mission Street is always crowded with people and scooters zooming past. We know the neighbors on both sides of us quite well. Sometimes the rain leaks in a little near the back door when the storms are heavy, so we have to watch out for that. We aren't a big corporation with lots of departments and managers. It is just us. We take turns answering the phone and sweeping the front step. We have had some of the same customers for decades. They come in and talk about their families. It is a friendly place.
