We have been here at Archunar Street for quite some time now. If you go past Lions Park or turn off Ecr Road into Muthialpet, you’ll find us at number 27 in Kennady Garden. It’s a busy spot, but we like it here. People mostly come to us when they have a wedding or a big family lunch and need enough biriyani to feed a whole crowd. We spend most of our mornings getting the fires going and cleaning the big pots. It gets quite hot in the kitchen, especially during the summer months, but that’s just how it is when you’re cooking on this scale. We don’t have any fancy office or a big reception area. Most of the space is just for the cooking and the storage of the rice and spices we use every day. Sometimes the street gets a bit crowded with the delivery vans coming and going, but the neighbors are used to us by now. We just focus on getting the food ready on time so it’s still steaming when it gets to wherever it’s supposed to go. There are a few of us working here, some doing the chopping and others looking after the actual cooking. It is hard work and the days start very early, often before the sun is even up properly. We don't spend much time on the computer or making flyers. We just stay here in Muthialpet and handle the orders as they come in.
