Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya

This school is out in Ranavav, which is near Porbandar. The address is 360550. It’s a bit of a drive to get out here because it’s away from the main town area. Since it’s a Navodaya school, most of the students actually live here on the grounds. It’s a big campus with dormitories and dining halls. The buildings are built in that standard government style you see everywhere. It’s not very fancy, but there’s a lot of space. We have hills nearby, so the air is a bit fresher than in the city. The schedule is very set. Breakfast, classes, lunch, more classes, then some play time. We have a lot of ground for sports. It gets very quiet at night when the students are in their rooms. The wind can be quite strong coming off the coast near Porbandar. We have some old trees scattered around that give a bit of character to the place. The staff also lives on the campus, so we are all here together. It’s a bit like a small village of its own. We don’t get many visitors because of the location. It’s just a place where kids from the district come to stay and study. There’s always laundry hanging out to dry and the sound of someone playing in the distance. We have to do our own repairs mostly. It’s a busy life keeping so many people fed and housed, but we manage somehow.
